August 2, 2023
In our August 2023 Employee Spotlight, we are pleased to feature Managing Director Dieter Matthes, MAI, Ph.D.
Dieter’s journey began in Germany where he spent the first eleven years of his life. This international upbringing gifted him with bilingual proficiency in English and German, a skill that brings additional depth and cultural perspective to our team.
His athletic prowess earned him a football scholarship at the University of Miami, where he initially started shaping his career. Not stopping at athletics, Dieter furthered his education by pursuing a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
Before joining us in 2009, Dieter spent ten impactful years educating young minds as a professor at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. A steadfast contributor to academia, his intellectual rigor is mirrored in the quality of his work at Valbridge.
Dieter’s expertise spans over three decades, with a special focus on SBA assets, including medical, dental, veterinary and daycare asset classes. His ability to deftly manage and allocate assignments significantly boosts the efficiency of our operations.
On a personal note, Dieter shares a blissful 48-year marriage with his wife Connie, residing in the welcoming neighborhood of College Park. They are active members of the community, participating at First Baptist Orlando.
His children, Crista and Kent, are also successful in their own fields. Kent, who followed in his father’s athletic footsteps, was an All-American baseball player at the University of Alabama before he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies. Today, he represents players as a professional baseball agent.
We are immensely proud to have a seasoned, multidimensional professional like Dieter leading the Valbridge Property Advisors Orlando | Tampa | Jacksonville team. His modest demeanor belies his significant contributions, which remain integral to the organization’s success. His experiences, both personal and professional, add to the richness of our diverse team, making us all better for having worked with him.
