Directly out of college, I moved to Cape Town, South Africa as an Au Pair for three years. Upon returning to Indiana in 2015, I began working for a pharmaceutical marketing agency, eventually advancing into a project manager role. Although I enjoyed that industry, I sought to make a career move into appraising in 2018, pursuing an interest in real estate that I developed at a young age. I became an analyst for Valbridge in 2018, and I am on track to earn my Certified General Appraiser license by the beginning of 2022.
What is your title and what do you do at Valbridge?
Analyst / Trainee. I Have begun with learning the trade, techniques, and reports piece by piece, I have gradually worked up to now being able to take most property type assignments from beginning to end of valuation and report writing, with guidance from my supervisor as needed.
How did you become a part of Valbridge and VWC?
I was introduced to the Valbridge Women’s Council when it was founded. I was most attracted to the mentorship program, which has been a great resource for me.
What are your specialty areas?
As a trainee, I do not quite have a specialty area, instead I am trying to learn about each property type and soak in as much knowledge as I can!
What are some of the most interesting projects you've working on at Valbridge?
My interest in real estate and its impact on community developed at a young age. I especially love working on projects with historical significance to an area, or big (re)development projects that will benefit the area.
What do you like most about working at Valbridge and being a member of the VWC?
I am grateful for the growth that Valbridge has provided me, supporting me and providing opportunities that will help me progress towards career goals. I feel that I have an army of supervisors available to help me reach my goals and cheer me on!
The Valbridge Women's Council mentorship program and monthly discussions on topics in our industry have had a significant impact on my development as an appraiser, and for that I am very grateful for my membership in the VWC!
