Virginia Brookhaven LLC has filed plans to begin development of a vacant, 0.34-acre site that is situated at the northwest corner of Virginia Drive and New York Avenue, one block east of the The Yard at Ivanhoe apartment complex, and across the street from The Hideaway Bar. The site is proposed for a restaurant building with a 5,588 sf building footprint and limited on-site parking.
The Hideaway is expected to be one of several tenants that will occupy the new facility, which is to be operated in a food-hall format. Referred to as The Hideaway at Brookhaven Drive, this project was submitted in December of 2022. The property is zoned MU-1/T, a mixed-use classification that allows for a wide variety of uses and development densities.
The existing Hideaway property (directly across the street at 514 Virginia Drive) includes a 1,500 sf building built in 1960. The building is situated on 6,500 sf of land and includes a reported 11 on-site parking spaces. The property is owned by the Mary F Critcher Revocable Trust. However, it is rumored that the property is under contract to Virginia Brookhaven LLC, who already acquired parcels flanking the east and west sides of the existing Hideaway in 2016. Acquisition of the existing Hideaway location will enhance future development potential of the assembled site.
The new Hideaway site will cover approximately 0.34 acres. There will also be a 0.37-acre remainder parcel that is to be donated to the City of Orlando for use as a public park.
