Job Brief

Immediate opening for a career path as an Appraiser Trainee (Analyst) in our well established Charleston Office. The position provides an excellent opportunity for experience and potential advancement within the commercial appraisal industry. The successful applicant will work under a senior appraiser in conducting research and preparation of appraisal reports for a variety of property types across the southeast. Qualified candidates will have a unique opportunity to be mentored on the job and to develop relationships with local real estate professionals as they work toward developing their appraisal career. Applicants must be detail-oriented, analytical, and extremely organized. The position requires excellent time management and communication skills, strong math and writing skills, a professional demeanor, good telephone etiquette, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong computer skills are a must. This position is full-time and does not require an appraiser’s license; however, a trainee license is preferred. The right candidate will be highly motivated to succeed in the Commercial Real Estate Appraisal field and will be required to work toward a General Real Estate Appraisal License. The right candidate will have: • Strong analytical and research skills. • MS Office skills, preferably advanced knowledge of Excel and Word. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. • Knowledge of financial math. • Utilization of technology. • Ability to communicate well with clients and coworkers, both written and oral. • Ability to self-start. • Ability to work independently. • Possess excellent time management and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct formal appraisals of real property for a variety of clients.
  • Examine all variables that impact the property's value, including, but not limited to, property history, neighborhood, sales data, and comparable sales.
  • Provide an unbiased, comprehensive, and professional opinion of value
  • Work toward obtaining Certified General Appraisal License

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Qualifying Appraisal Education (Trainee license)
