Corporate Officers

Pledger M. (Jody) Bishop III, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, CRE

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Jody Bishop has more than 35 years of appraisal experience in a wide range of property types and specializes in litigation work and architecturally significant homes. He is the 2022 President of the Appraisal Institute and has served for the Appraisal Institute in numerous National and Chapter Leadership roles, and on National Committees. Bishop is also an Appraisal Institute associate instructor, has been a seminar and webinar author, and has served as a discussion leader at the Appraisal Institute’s annual Leadership Development and Advisory Council conference. He was named the 2018 recipient of the Edward W. Adams, SRA, Outstanding Board Service Award, 2017 President’s Award, and received a 2017 Volunteer of Distinction recognition.

David H. Brooks, MAI, CRE

Executive Vice President and Senior Managing Director
David Brooks has been in valuation and advisory services since 1978. His specialties include commercial, multi-family and hospitality properties. David has served as an expert witness in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and in Maryland Tax Court. He is past president of the Maryland Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and served as President of CHAI, a non-profit housing agency. He is a licensed real estate broker and a former member of the real estate faculty at Johns Hopkins University. David is a state-certified general appraiser in Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

Karl P. Finkelstein, MAI, MRICS

Vice President OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Karl Finkelstein has been in valuation and advisory services since 1998. His specialties include commercial, multi-family, and resort properties. He is past president of the South Carolina Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and currently serves on the Admissions and Designation Qualifications Committee for the Appraisal Institute. He is a licensed real estate broker and member of the Urban Land Institute. Karl is a state-certified general appraiser in South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, and the State of New York.

Karlene R. Perry

Vice President OF FINANCE & OPERATIONS AND SENIOR MANAGING DIRECTOR
Karlene Perry has been in valuation and advisory services since 1986. Since 2001, she has been a Senior Managing Director and a Principal of a Valbridge firm in the Pacific Northwest. Karlene’s experience in all aspects of business management and operations, including process and workflow management, is extensive. She also is CEO of Dynamic Business Advancement, LLC, a consulting services business focused on the appraisal sector.

Paul Gilliam, MAI

Vice President OF FINANCIAL MODELING
Paul Gilliam has been in the valuation and advisory services since 2007. Paul’s specialties include valuation of office, health care, institutional properties, and special-use properties. Consulting assignments include feasibility and market rent studies, business interruption loss analysis, studies relating to diminution in market value from a variety of sources, and equal and uniform analysis for real estate tax protests. Paul is a state-certified general appraiser in Texas.

Tony Lesicka, MAI

Vice President OF TECHNOLOGY
Tony has a record of building successful organizations across all corners of commercial real estate. He is currently the VP of Technology for Valbridge Property Advisors, leading their transition from legacy systems into becoming one of the most forward-leaning valuation technology companies in existence. His executive and technical skills have been hard earned throughout his entire career, culminating with the co-founding of a venture-backed technology startup called Coverlease, which used AI to extract data from commercial real estate documents. He had also co-founded a Twin Cities commercial real estate valuation company, Insight Realty Advisors, which quickly became one of the largest in the Twin Cities market. Prior to Insight, he created and managed the real estate due diligence departments for two different regional banks, one of which he helped shepherd through growth from $350 million in size to $1.2 billion during the 2008-2011 “credit crisis” through the acquisition of several failed banks. Tony has experience in commercial property development and asset management (w/CSM Corp) and capital markets funding for real estate (w/MMA Realty Capital). Heavily involved in professional organizations, including being the 2016 President of the North Star Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, he has also served as an adjunct instructor for real estate valuation coursework, and has co-authored a valuation textbook focusing on real-world solutions to valuation problems.

Lawrence J. Colorito, Jr., MAI

Chair, Board of Directors, and Senior Managing Director

Larry Colorito has been in valuation and advisory service since 1988. He specializes in all aspects of real estate valuation, including for lending and other transactions, expert witness support and testimony, appraisal review, and consulting. Larry is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in Virginia, North Carolina, DC, and Maryland. He has a B.S. in Finance from Penn State University and an M.S. in Real Estate and Construction Management from the University of Denver.

Bruce C. Jolicoeur, MAI

Senior Managing Director

Bruce Jolicoeur is a Senior Managing Director and real estate analyst, appraiser, and consultant with Valbridge Property Advisors | Spokane Valley. Bruce has over 40 years of experience and his practice focuses on condemnation, litigation support, and on urban properties including market rent and rent-restricted multi-family housing, retirement communities, hotels/motels, feasibility studies, development properties, and various income-producing properties throughout the Inland Northwest. His specialties include complex and specialized assignments, especially those involving eminent domain, the impact of easements, and complex or varied cash flows. He has been qualified as an expert witness in state and federal courts in Washington, Idaho, and Montana, and is licensed in Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon.

John E. “Josh” Hall III, MAI

Josh Hall, MAI has been a commercial real estate appraiser since 2002. After graduating from Auburn University in 1994, Josh began a career in the appraisal business with Real Estate Appraisers, LLC. Josh has been a commercial appraiser for 28 years and has been involved with Valbridge since the beginning. Josh currently sits on the Board of Directors for Datappraise. Based in Montgomery, Josh focuses on appraisals and consulting for multi-family; retail buildings and shopping centers; office buildings; industrial buildings; religious and special purpose properties including schools, churches, and cemeteries; lodging; residential subdivisions; vacant industrial, commercial and residential land; rent studies, cost analysis, litigation support; right-of-way, timberland; developed office buildings.

James T. Hartman, MAI, SGA, AI-GRS

Senior Managing Director

James Hartman is the Senior Managing Director of Valbridge Property Advisors | Lansing-East Lansing. In 1988 he graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Business with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Finance Administration. He holds the MAI and AI-GRS designations from the Appraisal Institute and has held many leadership positions within the Appraisal Institute. He served as President of the Great Lakes Chapter in 2009. On a national level, he is on the General Comprehensive Exam Panel and was Vice Chair or Chair for 10 years. Mr. Hartman attained the SGA designation from the Society of Golf Appraisers and is the past president of the organization. Mr. Hartman has served on the State of Michigan Real Estate Appraisers board for nearly 10 years, including being Chair and vice-chair of the board.

Norman C. Hulberg, MAI

Member, Board of Directors, and Senior Managing Director

Norm Hulberg has been in valuation and advisory services since 1976. Norm’s expertise includes loan transaction support, mergers, and acquisitions, estate planning, taxes, litigation, project design, and feasibility, leasing and insurance. He is a state-certified general appraiser in California and holds membership with the Rotary Club of San Jose, where he is a director and the San Jose Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Joanne Montgomery

Member, Board of Directors, and PRESIDENT

Joanne Montgomery is President of Valbridge Property Advisors | Kansas City, the largest commercial real estate appraisal and consulting firm in Kansas City with 20 associates, seven MAIs, eight General Certified appraisers, and a very diverse client base. Joanne has a strong business background working in operations and management for both large companies early in her career and running her family’s small business prior to joining the Kansas City office when Valbridge launched in 2013. In addition to being President of the Kansas City office, Joanne is the immediate Past President of the Valbridge Women’s Council and currently serves as the Chair of the Mentorship Committee for VWC, is a member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, and the Future Leaders Alliance. She also helps with various special projects at the national level for Valbridge.

Brett E. Weatherbie, MAI

Member, Board of Directors, and Senior Managing Director

Brett Weatherbie has been in the valuation and advisory service since 2003. Brett has been employed by Valbridge Property Advisors | San Antonio since 2004. He is a Partner and Shareholder and serves as Senior Managing Director in the firm. His specialties include all aspects of real estate valuation, consulting, appraisal review litigation support and expert witness testimony. Brett is a state-certified general real estate appraiser in Texas and a designated member of the Appraisal Institute. He is a past president of the South Texas Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and currently serves on the Appraisal Institute’s Leadership Development and Advisory Council Planning Committee. Brett is a graduate of Auburn University.

Michele Wood

Michele Wood has been in the commercial valuation profession for over 20 years, having served in various roles in offices across Valbridge Property Advisors nationwide. Michele specializes in research, writing, leadership development, executive coaching, and business growth strategy. Michele is a founding board member of the Valbridge Women’s Council and served as its President from 2021 to 2023. Michele developed and leads the Valbridge Scholars internship program, and is active in the Future Leaders Alliance. Outside of her work with Valbridge, she is active in CREW. She holds a BA from Rutgers University and an MA in American Indian Studies from the University of Arizona.
