Valbridge Property Advisors | Charleston proudly serves coastal South Carolina (Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and Hilton Head/Beaufort markets). Our team of appraisers provides independent property valuation and consulting services, including advising clients on real estate business and investment decisions such as buy-sell-hold and lease-own alternatives. It is our goal to provide the best service to our clients by utilizing our knowledge and experience in real estate appraisals.
Valbridge | Charleston has extensive experience as expert witnesses on real estate valuation with an emphasis on condemnation. We have the knowledge and experience to appraise or provide consultation on any type of residential or commercial property. We have prepared appraisals for litigation, condemnation, marketing, and all facets of financing needs.
While covering primarily the eastern coastal region of South Carolina, Valbridge | Charleston has offices in Mt. Pleasant and Beaufort. With the addition of Scott Robinson to our team, we have recently begun expansion into eastern North Carolina. The office has 5 MAI designated members and 1 SRA designated member.
In addition to our commercial appraisal activity, Valbridge | Charleston has a very active residential appraisal presence. This arm of the office is managed by Michael C. Tawes, SRA.
Meet the team:
Pledger (Jody) M. Bishop, III, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, CRE, Senior Managing Director
Jody has 35 years of experience providing appraisal and consulting services. Mr. Bishop has experience as an appraiser working in government and private industry and has extensive experience as an expert witness for litigation, as an instructor, and as an advisor through his participation on various professional boards.
Karl P. Finkelstein, MAI, Senior Managing Director
Karl has over 28 years of real estate experience, with the last 20 spent in the appraisal field. Karl holds the MAI designation, was a founding BOD member of Valbridge Property Advisors, and is a Senior Managing Director of the local Charleston Office. Karl also serves as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Valbridge, promoting the Company’s large footprint of National Appraisers and their wholly owned Technology company – Datappraise. Karl is active in the local South Carolina Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, last serving as President. His concentration is in the appraisal of complex properties as well as litigation support and consulting.
Shaun C. Payne, MAI
Shaun C. Payne has been engaged in the appraisal profession since graduation from Presbyterian College in 2002 where he earned a degree in Political Science and Business Administration. He holds the MAI designation and is a Senior Managing Director in the Charleston Office. Mr. Payne has nearly 20 years of real estate experience, with over 15 of those spent in the appraisal field. He spent several years in the commercial real estate acquisitions field identifying, underwriting, and valuing properties across the country. He is active in and has held several positions within the South Carolina Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, and actively volunteers with numerous local youth sports. His concentration is in the appraisal of complex commercial properties as well.
Michael C. Tawes, SRA, Senior Managing Director
Michael C. Tawes, Sr. is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in South Carolina and a member of the Appraisal Institute. Mr. Tawes has more than 24 years of real estate experience in the Charleston market and is a life-long Charleston resident. He is also a member of the Charleston Trident Area Board of Realtors. His concentration is in all types of commercial properties as well as complex residential properties.
