Valbridge Property Advisors | Pittsburgh was formed in 1984 in response to an increasing need for quality real estate appraisal and consulting services in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Since that time the firm has experienced sustained growth and established a solid reputation with local and national financial institutions, government agencies, developers, and the legal community.

With 12 appraisers, six of whom hold the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute, this office has the ability to handle a wide range of assignment types. In addition to general appraisal practice, specialization areas include litigation support, fair value accounting, eminent domain, affordable housing, and appraisal review. Stephen J. Barone, MAI

Stephen J. Barone, MAI is President of the Pittsburgh office. With 45 years of experience in real estate and appraising, Steve serves an array of clients including assignments for financing, consulting, tax appeals, and other litigation. Steve is an MAI designated member of the Appraisal Institute.

William K. Murtha, MAI

William K. Murtha, MAI is a Senior Managing Director of the Pittsburgh office with 45 years of experience in real estate. Bill serves an array of clients including assignments for financing, consulting, tax appeals, estates, arbitration, and others. Bill has also provided appraisal review services for numerous lenders and attorneys. Bill is an MAI designated member of the Appraisal Institute and has served on the Board of Directors and as president for the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

Mark R. Shonberg, MAI

Mark Shonberg, MAI is a Senior Managing Director of the Pittsburgh office. Over the last 30 years, Mr. Shonberg has performed a wide variety of appraisal services across a broad spectrum of property types. Since 1993 he has specialized in affordable housing issues, with several hundred assignments completed relating to Rural Development programs, Section 42, and a variety of HUD programs. Ad valorem taxation is another area of concentration, with a particular focus on affordable housing and hotels.

John F. Watt, MAI

John F. Watt, MAI is a Senior Managing Director of the Pittsburgh office. With 35 years in real estate, John has experience in residential and commercial construction as well as extensive experience in valuation across a broad geographical area and wide array of property types. Clients include lending institutions, developers, legal firms, non-profit organizations, private individuals, and insurance companies. John specializes in land development, vacant land, multifamily (market rate and affordable), and special-purpose assets. He also has experience in retail, industrial, and office facilities. His appraisal experience includes assignments for financing, right of way acquisition, fair value, market analysis and consulting, litigation, and estate planning. John is a Designated Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI).

Bradley M. Barone, MAI

Brad Barone, MAI is a Senior Managing Director of the Pittsburgh office. With 20 years of experience in real estate, Brad serves an array of clients in the following industries: manufacturing; automotive; steel and aluminum; and retail. His appraisal experience includes assignments for fair value, financing, consulting, tax appeals, and other litigation. Brad also serves as a specialist for audit teams, reviewing third-party fair value estimates. Brad is an MAI designated member of the Appraisal Institute.

Bryan P. Barone, MAI

Bryan P. Barone, MAI is a Senior Managing Director of the Pittsburgh office. Bryan has been in the real estate appraisal industry for twenty years and is an MAI designated member of the Appraisal Institute. Bryan typically provides appraisal, review, and consulting services in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland.
