I have a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from Michigan State University. (GO GREEN!) I began my career as a commercial appraiser in Chicago in 2012. A few years later, I returned to my hometown of Detroit, MI, and continued to work as a commercial appraiser part-time while exploring other real estate career paths I was interested in. I gained experience as a realtor, multi-family property manager, and residential appraiser before joining Valbridge in 2017.

What is your title and what do you do at Valbridge?

I’m a commercial appraiser and I complete valuations for a variety of property types.

How did you become a part of Valbridge and VWC?

I attended one of the monthly virtual meetings and really liked the energy from the other women, so I decided to get more involved.

What are your specialty areas?

I have an affinity for multifamily valuations, especially those with government-related funding sources. I like taking all those convoluted layers of financing and incentives – LIHTC, PILOT programs, HUD project-based subsidies, etc. – and presenting them in a simplified, easy-to-follow format. I also like working on multi-family proposed developments.

What are some of the most interesting projects you've worked on at Valbridge?

I’ve worked on appraisals for properties that were being acquired in connection with the construction of the new Gordie Howe International Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge between the United States and Canada along the Detroit River.

I also love inspecting really old buildings that have been restored. I’ve appraised a couple of old brick loft-style buildings that were built in the late 1800s/early 1900s in Downtown Detroit that were recently renovated. They were beautiful.

What do you like most about working at Valbridge and being a member of the VWC?

VWC gives me a rare opportunity to meet and connect with other women across the country in the commercial real estate industry. It’s a great opportunity for networking and the development of leadership skills, and we also have a good time!
