VPA Office: Indiana
| St. Louis
I graduated from Butler University here in Indianapolis in 2016 with a degree in secondary education and a focus in mathematics. I taught Algebra at the middle and high school levels for three years before searching for a new career path. I found Valbridge and am now on my way towards becoming an appraiser.
What is your title and what do you do at Valbridge?
I am currently an appraiser analyst working towards my CG certification. I work through appraisals from beginning to end with guidance from my mentor appraiser. This typically includes data gathering and analysis, searching for comparables, making adjustments in the excel template, and writing the report.
How did you become a part of Valbridge and VWC?
I joined the Valbridge Women’s Council after hearing about it from several members in my office. They spoke very highly of the mentorship program and the Val-talks. I was excited to be part of an organization that supports women within the company.
What are your specialty areas?
I do not have any specialty areas yet, but I work mostly on retail, office, multifamily, and industrial properties. One area I hope to learn more about is hotels.
What are some of the most interesting projects you've worked on at Valbridge?
As an appraiser in training, most of my projects are simpler and more straightforward. One of my more interesting projects was a historic home that had been turned into an office. The owners owned an architectural firm and had been slowly restoring the home to its former glory.
What do you like most about working at Valbridge and being a member of the VWC?
What I like most about working at Valbridge and being a member of the Valbridge Women’s Council is the people I get to work with. Everyone I’ve encountered while working here has been kind, supportive, and has helped me to feel empowered in my profession. I’m thankful to be a part of such an inclusive and welcoming organization.
