Title: Researcher
Date: February 21, 2022
VPA Office: Houston | Dallas-Fort Worth | Lubbock
Employee background:
Before joining the Minneapolis office, I worked with a bank in commercial lending, combing through appraisals and checking for discrepancies. In 1996 I joined the Minneapolis office as administrative help. Our office was part of the start-up of Valbridge and it was very exciting watching a dream become a reality. Finding it necessary to move south, I contacted the Houston office and joined the Valbridge team in Texas in 2019.
What is your title and what do you do at Valbridge?
I am a researcher. I work from home for several of the Valbridge offices inputting sale comparables that would otherwise be sitting on someone’s desk gathering dust. I also pull front-end information for reports.
How did you become a part of Valbridge and VWC?
I joined the VWC many years ago, once I realized that being an appraiser was not a requirement. I have enjoyed the meetings and the various speakers.
What are your specialty areas?
I’m not an appraiser, so I don’t have a specialty. However, I think my most valuable asset is proofing reports for accuracy.
What are some of the most interesting projects you've worked on at Valbridge?
The most interesting project I worked on was when I was in the Minneapolis office, shortly after the inception of Valbridge. We bid on a portfolio of mobile home parks along the East Coast. I was given the job of researching the properties so we could determine which properties went to which Valbridge office.
What do you like most about working at Valbridge and being a member of the VWC?
The people. It has been a joy to get to know people around the country, to see the camaraderie between offices and within the offices. I doubt there is another company that has the cohesion seen at Valbridge.
