Name: Mitch Creer
Title: Real Estate Analyst
Date: July 5, 2023
VPA Office: Valbridge Property Advisors | Chicago

Employee background:

I graduated from Marquette University in 2021 with a degree in finance and real estate. Through the real estate program, I learned about discounted cash flows, net operating income, and excel modeling. The final capstone project was to complete two development proposals of vacant commercial sites around Milwaukee. I joined Valbridge Property Advisors | Chicago a few months after graduation.

What is your title and what do you do at Valbridge?

I received a Trainee License last summer. Since then, I have been able to work on appraisals and apply concepts I learned from the Appraisal Institute and my time at Marquette. Currently, I am working towards a Certified General Appraiser License.

How did you become a part of Valbridge?

I contacted Anthony Mulé who is also a Marquette alumnus. I was drawn to the position because of the unique projects that Anthony and Gary DeClark work with. They also have a wealth of knowledge and experience around the commercial real estate industry.

What are your specialty areas?

I have been a generalist working with many different property types. However, I have recently appraised many industrial properties for tax appeal purposes and completed four car dealership valuations last year.

What are some of the most interesting projects you've worked on at Valbridge?

I recently finished an impact study demonstrating how a proposed distribution facility would diminish property values of an adjacent residential subdivision. The developer backed out of the project due in part from our work as well as other experts and immense pushback from the public. Earlier this year I completed an appraisal of a monastery chapel and a distressed hospital for a bankruptcy sale. One of my favorites was a historic theatre with a duckpin bowling alley in Indianapolis.

What do you like most about working at Valbridge?

I am truly grateful for the amount of experience and knowledge I have acquired over the last two years. The team in Chicago is incredible to work with and learn from. It’s awesome that the other offices around the country are willing to help and refer clients. The work-life balance and flexibility also makes the position enjoyable.

Additional information:

Some of my hobbies are golfing, running, gaming, snowboarding, skating, and watching sports. I am very thankful that the flexibility of my position allows me to make time for my friends and family.
