Job Brief

Immediate opening for a career path as an Appraiser Analyst in our well-established Kansas City office. The position provides an excellent opportunity for experience and potential advancement within the commercial appraisal industry. The successful applicant will work under a senior appraiser in conducting research and preparation of appraisal reports for a variety of property types across the Midwest. Qualified candidates will have a unique opportunity to be mentored on the job and to develop relationships with local real estate professionals as they work toward developing their appraisal career. This position is full-time and does not require an appraiser’s license. The right candidate will be highly motivated to succeed in the Commercial Real Estate Appraisal field and will be required to work toward a General Real Estate Appraisal License.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct formal appraisals of real property for a variety of clients.
  • Examine all variables that impact the property's value, including, but not limited to, property history, neighborhood, sales data, and comparable sales.
  • Provide an unbiased, comprehensive, and professional opinion of value
  • Work toward obtaining Certified General Appraisal License
  • Some level of relationship-building with the brokerage community is expected.
  • Research and effectively describe “macro” and “micro” real estate and economic trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher, preference given to those with coursework in real estate or finance
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Digital literacy: analysts must have familiarity with standard office platforms, such as Microsoft Office, preferably advanced knowledge of Excel and Word, an aptitude for learning new software and systems, and online research skills, including the ability to analyze the reliability of information.
  • Communications and collaboration: analysts must collaborate with coworkers, management and clients on a regular basis
  • Strong interpersonal skills: analysts need a professional and courteous demeanor as well as excellent office and phone etiquette
  • Possess excellent time management and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently: analysts need to make independent decisions on a daily basis, addressing the best way to handle specific tasks and knowing when they need to seek guidance from their team lead.
  • Strong financial math skills
